Cloves are a dried, aromatic spice with a uniquely warm, sweet character used sparingly with various spices, including cinnamon, allspice, vanilla, basil, onions, citrus peels, anise star and peppercorns as well as crafting, potpourri and as a mulling spice. 
Use in moderation for best results. 
Though listed as whole some pieces may be broken.
